Detailed Job Description
Since HIT does not assign projects to contractors, you are expected to log into our project database (The Center) and choose for yourself what projects you would like to work on. Every project is tied to a specific skill set and you will only be able to accept projects matching your skill sets.
Much of your time will be spent creating custom databases for customers. In addition to written project specifications, you will be expected to conduct an interview with our clients for every project you work on. This interview allows you to discuss the specifics the customer had in mind when they purchased the database and how they intend to use their custom programming. In turn, you’ll be able to create a database that truly meets the customer’s needs.
There are certain security guidelines you are expected to follow in your programming work. Your work may be tested by our security team to identify weaknesses.
A project manager must approve your programming before you may present the final version to the customer. Once you have received approval from HIT, you must follow HIT protocols in seeking approval from the customer.
Once a site is approved by the customer, it may be your responsibility to ensure the site is moved “live” and is presenting and performing as intended.
For answers to specific questions about our contractor programmers, please visit our Frequently Asked Questions page.
* Site enhancements are additional features for a site that were not sold to the customer at the point of sale. These items, such as Flash, databases, galleries, etc. are items that help the customer's site stand out, but were either not discussed at the point of sale, or the customer had decided to wait to purchase the item until a later date. Typically, you will receive 10% of the purchase price for any items you sell but there are some exceptions where a flat rate is paid instead.
